God Centered.
We believe that Woodhaven belongs to God. We desire to glorify God, His son Jesus Christ, and His Holy Spirit in everything we do. We believe that God through His Holy Spirit guides and empowers our lives. We seek to experience God’s presence and power in all we do.
Matthew 22:36-38, Romans 8:14-15, 1 Corinthians 10:31
Bible based.
We believe that the Holy Bible is God’s Word. It is divinely inspired and provides direction and purpose for our daily lives. God’s Word permeates all that we teach and do at Woodhaven. We encourage and reinforce Bible study and knowledge. We are challenged to think deeply and intelligently about the Bible and its history and content. We believe that the criterion by which the Bible is to be interpreted is Jesus Christ with the direction of the Holy Spirit.
Psalm 119:104-106, John 1:1-18, Romans 16-18
Given the difficulty of applying the Bible to tough ethical and theological issues, we recognize that we will not all reach the same conclusions. We affirm the guidance of God’s Spirit in the pilgrimage of every believer towards Christian understanding.
Outreach focused.
We believe that God has called us to be stewards of our community; therefore, we desire to make reaching the lost a high priority. We are convinced that God has built His church on earth to further His kingdom. We recognize that God’s grace and love are offered freely for all to accept. At Woodhaven, all people are welcome.
Matthew 11:28-29, Romans 3:22-24, Romans 12:13
Relationship oriented.
We believe that Woodhaven is a place of fellowship where people can feel they belong. To encourage all ages to be involved, we offer a variety of Bible study classes, small groups and ministry teams. We strive for unity by staying focused on loving God and each other.
1 John 1:7, 1 John 4:7-11, Romans 12:4-5
Discipleship minded.
We believe that more mature Christians should mentor younger believers and help them grow toward maturity. We encourage all Christians to learn on a continuous basis in order to grow in their faith.
Luke 9:23-27, Luke 14:25-33, John 8:31-32
Stewardship conscious.
We believe that God is the ultimate source of all blessings; therefore, we are called to share our gifts, talents, and personal resources to advance His work in our body, community and world. We give freely and regularly in order to advance God’s work on earth.
Leviticus 27:30-33, Malachi 3:7-12, Luke 19:12-26
Kingdom building.
We believe that God’s work is far greater than our church or community. We are charged to assume our place in the furtherance of His kingdom. We want to be a blessing to His greater work by sharing our resources, starting new churches and helping hurting ones, and sending out servants to do ministry. We rejoice in making a difference in the lives of others.
Matthew 9:36-38, Matthew 28:18-20, John 15: 7-17, Acts 1:8
Prayer minded.
We believe that prayer is the channel through which we communicate with God. Through active prayer lives, we seek to experience a personal relationship with God and discover His will and direction for our lives. We believe in praying for others–those who are sick, those who are hurting, and those who need God’s love.
Mark 11:22-26, Ephesians 6:18, James 5:16
Women affirming.
We affirm the leadership of women in all areas of Christian service, including as deacons, teachers, and pastoral ministers. We believe the Bible teaches the full equality of women and men, and that the Holy Spirit empowers both with spiritual gifts; consequently, both are called to develop and use their God-given talents for the good of church, home, and society.
