Music is a wonderful part of our ministry here at Woodhaven. We have opportunities for beginning to advanced musicians, as well as for those who simply like to "make a joyful noise'!
The Adult Choir leads our congregation in worship each Sunday and rehearses on Wednesday evenings. Our choir is open to all; no auditions are required to join this volunteer group. The Adult Choir also prepares special music for various occasions throughout the year. Offer your gifts of praise by singing with us! Learn more.
Youth Choir (Middle and High School)
Our youth choir is small but mighty in voice and spirit! This group meets on Sunday evenings before SNL (Sunday Night Live) activities, a convenient schedule for teens and their parents. Our youth share their music in worship services during holiday seasons and other times throughout the year. Teens who don't yet read music are welcomed and will be comfortable in this group. Please join us!
In our activities on Sundays and Wednesdays, preschool and elementary children learn songs, hymns, and other music for worship and fellowship. Kids also learn about stories and people from the Bible, how to use the hymnal, and how to be worship leaders.
Handbell Group, the C3 Ringers
The handbell choir, called the C3 Ringers, meets on Sunday afternoons from 4:30-5:30 p.m. (September - June) in the Handbell Room of the Music Suite (downstairs under the sanctuary). The handbell group plays on occasion in worship and for special services or concerts. This group adds a unique and exciting dimension to our music ministry and is led by Jim Bob Costilow.
Ladies' Ensemble, the Grace Notes
Our newest musical group is the Grace Notes, a ladies' ensemble. This group meets on some Sunday evenings throughout the year; please check the church calendar for exact dates. Our music ranges from contemporary to gospel pieces with or without accompaniment. We welcome ladies of all musical abilities. As our name implies, we offer a lot of grace to one another! Join us.
Other Music Opportunities
Don't hide your light under a bushel. If you play an instrument or have other musical talents you would like to share in worship, please contact Stephanie de Jong, our minister of music, to see how we can let your musical gifts shine!
Have you always wanted to learn to play the piano or the organ? Woodhaven's School of the Arts (WSA) offers private lessons for school-aged children through adults. To learn more, click here, or contact Susan Simpson, director of WSA.
