Simply Called

Before babies even know what they’re doing, they show us what it means to be human. The first meaningful act of human is to call, to long to connect in a way that matters. We begin life with this innate need because we are born knowing on a very deep level that we can’t go it alone. Something is missing; a baby expresses a need and trusts that a need will be met.

When we call on God and one another, God hears our call in the same the way a loving parent hears the call of her child. And there’s more...

We’re hardwired to call like a child because we are fragile. We are also hardwired to respond to calls like a good parent and capable friend because we are created in the image of a good and capable God whose nature is to call us by name, into his care and to do good works.

To be simply called is to believe that we are created in the image of our Creator who desires a loving relationship with us. It all begins with a call. God wants us to know that we don’t have to go it alone. And we want God to know that we hope for a life greater than ourselves.

No matter where you are in your journey with Christ, you are called by a God who loves you very much. This year we are hoping you’ll accept God’s loving invitation to explore what it means to be Simply Called.

If you have questions or want to talk with someone about discerning God's call, please feel free to talk with our ministers at 919-362-0127 or email simplycalled@woodhaven.org.

Join us as we explore what it means to be Simply Called.
